Brighton Road has a long history of supporting mission projects in the UK and around the world. Our support is delivered through a range of methods:
- selected missionary agencies
- direct projects supported by the church
- church action teams
- individuals (short and long term mission work)
- our own radio station "Soundwaves"
- As a Baptist church, our primary work outside the UK is directed through BMS World Mission (previously known as Baptist Missionary Society) founded in 1792, it is the oldest modern mission organisation in the world.
- We also support the work of Baptist Home Mission, that is in the UK.
- Tearfund originally known as The Evangelical Alliance Relief Fund was born out of humanitarian crises in the 1960s and continues to operate at the sharp end of a Christian response to material and spiritual poverty by engaging UK churches efforts with a network 100,000 local churches worldwide.
- Outreach UK (previously known as Home Evangelism). Rev Tim Hill is the evangelist for West Sussex. Outreach UK has both staff and voluntary 'evangelists' who visit homes, shops, senior citizen's clubs, businesses, markets, schools and many other places, taking the time to speak and share of their faith with anyone interested enough to ask questions. They also have opportunity to listen to peoples concerns about illness, loneliness, overwork, finance and many other 'life' problems.
- Home of Hope in Focsani, Romania) operates a children's orphanage.
- Lttn Ministries and the Deepgruh Foundation in central India work with the Korku people.
- Our own studio Soundwaves produces radio programmes that are broadcast regularly around the world on a range of International Christian and local stations.
